IEDThis one-day curriculum is designed to assist all categories of first responders, emergency management, security and/or corporate personnel that could be called to respond to, or manage a possible Improvised Explosive Device (IED) incident and/or Bomb Threat.

The course gives participants in-depth perspective to help identify possible threats, conduct safe and effective searches, develop action plans and SOP’s, and provide the necessary knowledge to make good decisions.

Practical exercises, demonstrations, and mock-ups are used to enhance classroom instruction.  A range demonstration is available per client requests.

Primary learning objectives for the course include:

  • Develop the ability to recognize common commercial and military explosive materials.
  • Develop the ability to understand and recognize common IED components, such as electronic parts, firing trains, fuses, etc.
  • Identify the common stimuli that explosive materials are sensitive to.
  • Enable responders to develop and take appropriate actions upon the discovery of a possible IED and/or Bomb Threat.

This course does not give participants any information on Render Safe Procedures or tactics used by Civilian Hazardous Devices Technicians or Military Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technicians.

The IED (Improvised Explosive Device) Recognition and Bomb Threat Management Course can be combined with ORI’s Homicide Bomber Course that gives participants an incisive understanding of a bomber’s potential threat.
